Optimizing economic performance of recycling processes
Waste recycling is an activity that always has a positive impact on the environment, yet many of these processes have a negative economic balance. It is one of the best solutions for te issue of the solid waste generation growth, as it helps to minimize the impact of industry and consumption. One of the most evolved recycling industries is the PET industry. Until recently, this material could not be reused in the food industry. Technological improvements to the treatment process of the recycled PET (R-PET) currently allow its use in bottles and containers of food products. One of the main problems for the companies working onPET recovery is the logistics. The aim of the project, started in 2015, is to study the critical points of the supply chain of post consumer PET and propose a suitable reverse logistics strategy for optimizing the flow of raw materials.
